Captivating the look. Kim Kardashian Mermaid Makeup Tutorial

It's so fun to get inspired by looks that celebrities are rocking on the red carpet, but sometimes it can be a headache trying to figure out what to use to achieve the looks..

I'm going to start making it say for you. Giving you a bride synopsis of the products you can use at home to get runway ready in minutes!

Let's start with one of my favorites. The Kim Kardashian Mermaid Makeup that Makeup by Mario rocked out on her.

Begin by applying a base, I would recommend something ulta sticky, so the color really stays put and pops.

Then apply a fierce brow. Use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Kit to make it as easy as possible. (You will thank me later)

Then we grab the color!

Take the shade Livid from Illamasqua and apply it all over the lid with a flat brush.

Then we go in for the fun!

Take my favorite shade, Preen and apply it through the crease and smoke it all around the eye area. This will create that contour that we all love so much!

Next up.. Eyeliner!

I recently purchased an eyeliner called Amethyst from Motives by Loren Ridinger.. Now one of my staples! Use this in the waterline to creat a sultry effect!

Lastly we want to emphasize those lashes. You will never get me to pay Mac $20 for a pair of eyelashes again... Instead we will be using the amazing House of Lashes eyelashes in Femme Fatal. My girl Jenn knows how to make them I tell ya!

Okay, what are we waiting for?? Go get your reality show and rapper boyfriend already! ;)

My 10 favorite Entrepreneurial Quotes

Now I recognize that not everyone wants to be an entrepreneur.. It isn't something that is for everyone. You cannot be the type of person who enjoys the security of a set amount of money coming in every month, or be heavily influenced by things such as you know.. Health insurance plans ;)

This are things that come with long term dedication and are the prizes awarded to entrepreneurs who have stayed true to path and achieved sustainability in their ventures.

For the rest of us.. Well we just have to keep hoping, praying and pushing until our dreams come into fruition.

I get inspired often by those around me who are positive, genuine, and believe in my strengths. I call them my "team."

Your team will need to surround and support you and engulf you in positive affirmations.

Who is on your team?

Enjoy these quotes, they are some of my favorites to spark and inspire me to continue on the straight and narrow.

Lifestyle lift.. Not the surgery.. Just the blog

We are women. We rule the world.

Lets start finding ourselves again.

What are your passions? What are your dreams?

To be a designer, playwright, business woman? Maybe it's to be the best mommy in the world?

Whatever it is, it isn't too late.

This blog is being redesigned to not only showcase my artistry, but to uplift and empower because well.. That is what more women need to do. Call me a hippy but I think they had one thing right back then.

It's time for women to encourage one another, find our strengths, and help others find theirs. We don't need another version of someone else.. We need to be who we are. Get inspired by others without losing our own identity.

I hope you all enjoy this journey we are about to embark upon.. It's going to get good..

Trip to the UK and Europe

I haven't blogged in quite some time, so my apologies must come first. The past year has been incredible for my business and personal life and it has kept me so busy! It has honestly been hard to buckle down and stay on the path of each project I begin, but that is something I am dedicated to resolving this year.

Since we haven't had much blog interaction let me quickly bring you up to date on my life adventures. I am currently in the UK (Manchester to be specific) and myself and my partner Curt have been working and networking like crazy!

In the first week I was invited to the Illamasqua Headquarters to have a meet and greet with the PR girls. Such a pleasant experience. Rose has to be one of the most gracious and kind people I have yet to meet.

As I walked in the building she wells up with excitement and whispers to me.. " I know you are a huge Alex Box fan.. I have to tell you that she is in the meeting room where we planned to have our meeting." Obviously I died at that moment. My favorite makeup artist of all time in the same room as me on the same day in a foreign country. Okay, this had to be destiny.

I try and play it cool (which I didn't) and after about an hour and a half of meeting time we walk towards the back room she is in and I become fixed in a trance. She walks out, as petite as can be in her floral jumper suit and big gold encrusted necklace, and of course has eyebrows to die for.

She smiles, and introduces her self. She sits on the table like we have known each other for years and she tells me that she follows my work. DEAD. Not possible. She is well.. her and I am.. Me? She says "yes yes, you do the fun eyeshadow looks from different angles.. I really love your brows."

Cool. At that moment I thought I was in a dream. I have idolized this woman's work for years and now I had the opportunity to sit and chat with her. Unbelievable.

In the end we found that we had a mutual contact and I gave her my card. For all I know that thing could be buried in her trash under her babies diaper
(but who cares!? I gave Alex Box my card!)

Okay enough fangirling out. Next up.. FASHION WEEK.

Somehow by a miracle, (or by a LinkedIn contact) I was able to apply for a spot doing makeup for the Bernard Chandran London Fashion Week Show.

Guess what..

We made it!!

Hands down one of the best and most humbling experiences of my life. Up the street was the Valentino Show and down the hall every other designer you can think of showcasing their new threads.

It's an odd concept doing makeup for s fashion show. It is 100% different from doing a wedding, making a video tutorial, working on a photoshoot. It's just.. different.

Here are some photos of the fast paced backstage moments!

I promise to continue to blog through this journey! It will help my moments of homesickness!

The glory of wedding season

So I have been a bit absent from the blog sect for a while. I would like to apologize, it has been a crazy past few months. Between wedding season being out of control busy, keeping up to date with my instagram and youtube followers and dealing with family ailments, it has been insane. I want to do a quick update for you all with some detailed info on how to achieve certain looks I have posted recently.

Burst

This look I called "Burst" because of its wide eyed appeal and burst of color on the lid. I achieved this look by using a primer on the lid, Filling in my brows with charcoal brown eyeshadow, placing a teal NYX glitter pigment on my lid, then with a blending brush taking orange eyeshadow from MAC through the crease. I later went back through the crease with Embark eyeshadow from MAC and a jet black shadow from Coastal Scents. Apply a heavy mascara application, as well as a set of false lashes (I have two sets on) and you are ready to roll!

Extraordinary Machine

This look was inspired by Fiona Apples famous record Extraordinary Machine. I have loved this gem for years now and while getting some work done in the studio this morning I decided to do an eyeshadow combo reflective of the record. To achieve this look, use the coastal scents palette. Use the deep green tone on the lid, black in the side corner, and MAC eyeshadow cranberry through the crease. Apply false lashes that have a more individual aesthetic and smoke out the bottom with eyeliner.

Graduation makeup

Photography:Tricia Davidge

Along with Bridal makeup, I have been doing a lot of graduation photo makeup. Here are a couple that I really enjoyed! I absolutely love doing this type of makeup because you really get to find the inner beauty of these amazing women who have reached for and completed goals. Congrats ladies!

I will be posting wedding photos very soon and cannot wait to share with you all!

Entering the world of YouTube

If managing a household and my own little business, helping my boyfriend with his business, traveling, and working a ton didn't seem like enough to do... don't you worry.. I've now added another venture into my life!

So for a couple of years now I have had fans requesting me to make tutorials on Youtube for them to watch. To be frank, I was more than hesitant in the beginning to divulge information and techniques that I had spent nearly a decade acquiring. Then I had an somewhat of an epiphany; I realized that making these videos could be such great thing for up and coming makeup artists, or fans of mine from out of the state or country that can't make it in my studio for lessons.

No matter where the person is, I want everyone to have access to my little relaxation zone. So with that said, "Welcome to the studio!"

I feel like making these videos is the right thing to do at this moment, and I really want to thank all of my Instagram followers for showing me so much love and support and pushing me to do more with this gift.

I will post a couple of the looks that I have made videos of, and I a going to try very hard to keep up with 1-2 tutorials a month.. but like this blog.. I make no guarantees ;)

All videos can be found at www.youtube.com/promakeupbybrittanym  Please feel free to subscribe :)

I hope to receive feedback from all of my fans and clients to help me create the best videos a complete iMAC newbie can ;)

I know this is a short one, but I just wanted to introduce this new venture. Now with that said.. did I share my new hair? Call me trendy but I am loving the ombre Grace Slagle did on me! Excuse the ompa loompa skin tone.. camera phones and artificial lights= Willy Wonka's dream helper  ;)
