Since we haven't had much blog interaction let me quickly bring you up to date on my life adventures. I am currently in the UK (Manchester to be specific) and myself and my partner Curt have been working and networking like crazy!
In the first week I was invited to the Illamasqua Headquarters to have a meet and greet with the PR girls. Such a pleasant experience. Rose has to be one of the most gracious and kind people I have yet to meet.
As I walked in the building she wells up with excitement and whispers to me.. " I know you are a huge Alex Box fan.. I have to tell you that she is in the meeting room where we planned to have our meeting." Obviously I died at that moment. My favorite makeup artist of all time in the same room as me on the same day in a foreign country. Okay, this had to be destiny.
I try and play it cool (which I didn't) and after about an hour and a half of meeting time we walk towards the back room she is in and I become fixed in a trance. She walks out, as petite as can be in her floral jumper suit and big gold encrusted necklace, and of course has eyebrows to die for.
She smiles, and introduces her self. She sits on the table like we have known each other for years and she tells me that she follows my work. DEAD. Not possible. She is well.. her and I am.. Me? She says "yes yes, you do the fun eyeshadow looks from different angles.. I really love your brows."
Cool. At that moment I thought I was in a dream. I have idolized this woman's work for years and now I had the opportunity to sit and chat with her. Unbelievable.
In the end we found that we had a mutual contact and I gave her my card. For all I know that thing could be buried in her trash under her babies diaper
(but who cares!? I gave Alex Box my card!)
Okay enough fangirling out. Next up.. FASHION WEEK.
Somehow by a miracle, (or by a LinkedIn contact) I was able to apply for a spot doing makeup for the Bernard Chandran London Fashion Week Show.
Guess what..
We made it!!
Hands down one of the best and most humbling experiences of my life. Up the street was the Valentino Show and down the hall every other designer you can think of showcasing their new threads.
It's an odd concept doing makeup for s fashion show. It is 100% different from doing a wedding, making a video tutorial, working on a photoshoot. It's just.. different.
Here are some photos of the fast paced backstage moments!
I promise to continue to blog through this journey! It will help my moments of homesickness!
